BSC1421 Introduction to Biotechnology: Prerequisite: High school biology. This course provides an introduction to the foundations of biotechnology, including current DNA and RNA technologies, as well as its historical background, the cell, and genetic disorders. Scientific method, lab safety, and an emphasis for current applications in medicine, agriculture, forensics, and the environment are also covered. One contact hour. A.S. View Available Sections

CLP 1001 Dynamics of Behavior: Prerequisite: Satisfactory score on reading and writing placement tests. (Placement into ENC 1101) This course consists of the study of individual behavior and how it is influenced by many social factors including personality, relationships, and culture. EDP 2002 Educational Psychology: Prerequisite: PSY 1012. This course presents the theoretical principles underlying successful classroom practice and assists students in translating that knowledge into classroom use. Three contact hours. (CBE) A.A. View Available Sections

ENG 1100 Introduction to Film: Prerequisite: ENC 1101 with a grade of "C" or better. This general survey course examines the development of the motion picture as a universal literary form, its historical and international background, theme and subject selection, and script development, technological equipment and innovations, elements of visual composition, sound and music, acting and directing, and criticism and analysis of classical and contemporary foreign/American films. The course examines the motion picture as a form of literature expressing humankind's varied narratives and cultures. Four contact hours: two lecture hours, two screening hours. A.A. ISC 1075 Principles of Science and Investigation: This course is an interdisciplinary study of selected topics in the biological and physical sciences, and their impact upon man and society, with the course format including seminar, discussion and projects. JOU 2100 Newspaper Reporting and Writing: Prerequisite: ENC 1101 with a grade of "C" or better. This course will introduce basic news paper reporting procedures, including writing news leads, organizing stories, interviewing techniques and ethics. The role of the reporter will also be addressed. Since computer training will be included, it is recommended that students have basic typing skills before enrolling in this course. Practice in actual reporting will be gleaned from writing for the student news paper. Three contact hours. A.A. View Available Sections

MMC 1000 Introduction to Mass Communications: Prerequisite: ENC 1101 with a grade of "C" or better. This course provides a general introduction to the mass media. It traces the development of print, broadcast, and electronic communications. This course examines the communication process as well as the responsibilities of the mass media. Three contact hours.
